Neutering / Spaying

Dogs over seven months of age must be neutered or spayed in order to utilize our daycare or extended stay services. Female dogs younger than seven months of age that are going through heat are not eligible to use these services.

Dogs must be socialized, people-friendly, and able to safely be around other dogs.

We have to be discerning about the personality and needs of every dog that we accept into daycare or for grooming services in order to maintain a safe, balanced, playful environment for our dogs and our staff. For this reason, each new dog is carefully screened before being accepted, and owners must complete an evaluation survey. This evaluation helps us confirm that the dog is healthy, has positive interactions with our employees and other dogs, and meets all prerequisites (spayed/neutered and current on vaccinations).

BSB does this not only to look out for everyone’s (the dog’s included!) safety, but also to secure the confidence of clients who entrust their furry friends to our hands. We do not like having to turn dogs away, and our intention is never to upset a customer, but our loyal clients count on us to maintain a calm and relaxed place where their dogs are able to play and socialize safely. Aggressive or extremely anxious dogs upset the environment and pose a potential threat. We also cannot put our employees at risk because of a fractious dog.

We are unwavering on this commitment as should any other good groomer or daycare provider be. BSB reserves the right, in our sole discretion, to refuse to provide services if we determine that a dog’s temperament is not suited for the requested service, or if a dog cannot be handled safely by our staff.

All dogs must be free from parasites and communicable diseases. Any dog that poses a risk to the health of the other dogs in our care will not be accepted at check-in. If our staff finds reason for concern while your dog is in BSB’s care, he/she will be separated from the group and we will contact you about picking them up and/or seeing a veterinarian. We will gladly welcome your dog back once they are healthy again and no longer poses a risk of infection.

BSB wants all dogs to be safe and healthy. As such, and in compliance with the California Department of Public Health and the recommendation of the American Veterinary Medical Association, we require that all dogs be current on the following vaccinations:

  • Rabies
  • DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus)
  • Bordetella (kennel cough preventative vaccine required every six months)

We require proof of vaccination from your veterinarian prior to using any of our services.
